The Germany and Bayern Munich star apologised to the fans after being sent off during his nation's friendly match against Austria on Tuesday.
The winger shoved an opponent in his face on the pitch and was immediately sent off in the 49th minute, with Julian Nagelsmann's side going on to suffer a 2-0 loss in his absence.

Former Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer handed Austria the lead in the 29th minute and Christoph Baumgartner then wrapped up the win for the hosts in the 73rd minute.
This was Germany's sixth defeat of the calendar year and their second loss since former Bayern Munich manager Nagelsmann took charge of the team.

After the match, Sane took to to issue an apology, which read: "An evening to forget in Vienna. I apologized to my teammates in the dressing room for the action. Despite all my emotion and ambition, this can't happen to me, especially in our current situation. A big sorry to our fans too. We have a lot of work ahead of us to make 2024 a successful year for us."

Despite the setback in the international friendly, the 27-year-old has enjoyed success at club level this season as he has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 18 matches for Bayern Munich. He will next be seen in action for his club on Saturday as Bayern take on FC Koln in the Bundesliga.
