da lvbet: Tottenham Hotspur take on Liverpool this weekend in a game that comes at a remarkably inopportune time for Jose Mourinho’s men.
da leao: They are struggling with a number of injury issues and have several senior stars out.
Harry Kane will play no part in the game after sustaining a “serious” hamstring issue, per Jose Mourinho, while Moussa Sissoko has been ruled out for three months after damaging his knee ligaments.
The Daily Telegraph has also reported that Tanguy Ndombele is struggling to prove his fitness, as is Harry Winks, with Hugo Lloris and Ben Davies also out.
The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?
It means Mourinho faces something of a crisis ahead of a game against a team that has yet to lose in the Premier League this season.
Football FanCast, thus, takes a look at the team he should select.
Paulo Gazzaniga has to play in goal, purely because he’s available and Lloris isn’t.
In defence, a back four makes sense, with Serge Aurier at right-back and Danny Rose at left-back. The latter has not been included in the squad for the last three games but he offers natural width on the flank.
Jan Vertonghen is too slow to counter the threats offered by the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah; Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld should be picked as the club’s centre-backs.
In midfield, Spurs need midfielders that are going to provide a proper shield; Eric Dier is perhaps the only player with that profile in the team. Oliver Skipp is an option alongside him but one has to feel that the 19-year-old is too raw for a game of this magnitude, while Victor Wanyama has played just 23 minutes in the Premier League.
It’s a problem for Mourinho and he will be hoping that Ndombele is fit; if he isn’t, it may have to be Skipp.
On the right flank, Erik Lamela is both a threat going forward and an assiduous presence in defence; playing him ahead of Lucas Moura makes sense.
Ryan Sessegnon has similar attributes and should play on the left, with Dele Alli in behind Son Heung-Min, who is perhaps the only proper option to play instead of Kane.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has made a huge transfer demand.
