Whilst Fernandes is clearly a talent that cannot be ignored, it seems strange that Pep Guardiola would target another attacking midfielder when he already has so many at his disposal.
City have Phil Foden, David Silva, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne already within their ranks, and should surely be targeting a replacement for the ageing Fernandinho rather than yet another attacking midfielder – in that respect, if they did sign Fernandes, it would be a strange move.
