Palermo striker Fabrizio Miccoli has explained his reasons for turning down Premier League side Birmingham City.
The diminutive frontman admitted it was his desire to remain at the Serie A club to prove himself further, although he has not ruled out a money-spinning overseas switch in the future.
Speaking to reporters, he said:"I showed everyone the contract that Birmingham offered me.
"Two and a half million euros net per season for the next four years, double what I earn at Palermo. But I chose with my heart.
"Would I at 36 go to Dubai like (Fabio) Cannavaro?
"I would, but not for the life experience or in order for my children to learn languages. I would honestly play in Dubai just for the money.
"I intend to pick up where I left off last season, when I scored 19 goals. I believe I can repeat the same feat."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
