da bet sport: Leeds United have been one of the most exciting teams in England to watch over the past couple of years, and that’s due to Marcelo Bielsa’s excellent coaching and tactics.
da marjack bet: However, one thing has been missing at Leeds, and that’s a set-piece threat.
Leeds’ dire record from corners was a talking point last season, but one thing that somehow avoided a lot of criticism was their poor free-kick record.
Kalvin Phillips is Leeds’ chief free-kick taker these days, and despite going close on numerous occasions, most famously against Liverpool where he flashed one past Alisson’s post, he’s only actually scored one direct free-kick since Bielsa’s arrival.
Leeds haven’t really had a proper free-kick threat since Ross McCormack departed for Fulham, with Phillips and Pablo Hernandez having just three free-kick goals between them in the last four seasons, while Alex Mowatt only managed two during his three-year spell as Leeds’ designated taker.
In comparison, McCormack netted three in his final season at the club, making him a potent threat from dead-balls.
Fortunately, United’s fortunes in this area could change sooner rather than later as they are reportedly one of the clubs interested in signing Harry Wilson from Liverpool.
Wilson has cemented himself as one of the deadliest free-kick marksmen in the country, netting no fewer than seven free-kicks in the last two seasons, and if United bring him in, he will add a new dynamic to the Whites’ squad.
Of course, you don’t sign a player just for their free-kick ability, but Wilson also possesses a number of other attributes that make us believe that he could be Pablo Hernandez’s long-term successor, so this is a transfer that we believe United should be looking to finalise.
If the £15.75m-rated man does come in, Bielsa’s side will become that much more entertaining than they already are, because there are few finer sights in football than a free-kick whistling into the top corner.
In other news, Leeds are interested in a player who would be a perfect Bielsa project…
