James Milner has earned himself heaps of praise from plenty of supporters in the aftermath of Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town in the 4th round of the FA Cup.
With Jurgen Klopp and the seniors of the Reds away on their winter break, it was Neil Critchley who led the team in the FA Cup clash and it was he who masterminded their triumph.
And after the clash, as was revealed by James Pearce, Critchley stated that Milner had actually asked to train with the youngsters before the game and was also there to offer words of advice for their big moment in the cup.
Needless to say, as soon as they saw that, many Liverpool fans were left in awe of the veteran midfielder and showered the player with praise.
And many fans seem to think that Milner has the potential to talk on a staff role following his retirement, suggesting Liverpool should definitely retain him in some capacity when he hangs up his boots.
To them, he seems like the type of person who would excel in a coaching role.
One fan took the conversation a step further and suggested Milner could one day be Steven Gerrard’s assistant in some form of Utopian future at Anfield.
Finally, in typical Twitter fashion, there were some fans saying Milner deserves a statue for everything he’s done for the club so far.
With so many players getting their own statues, they would surely need a bigger ground as well…
