da leao: Leonardo Bonucci is currently hot property and is rumoured to be on the verge of signing for Man City this summer.
da betway: Having been linked with several Europe’s elite clubs, the Juventus man is supposedly keen on playing in the Premier League, and Chelsea are also said to have registered their interest in the player.
So let’s have a look at what Man City could be buying in the Italy international….
Aerial Ability
One of Bonucci’s key assets is his phenomenal aerial ability, which was part of the reason he was able to chip in with three goals as the Old Lady romped to yet another Serie A title, even after a disastrous start.
Italy’s Euro 2016 performance only underlined this as he was a rock at the heart of the Italian defence, which conceded just three goals before losing on penalties to Germany in the quarter-finals.
Passing ability
Arguably the main appeal of Bonucci is his ability to play out from the back. He possesses a passing range that most playmakers would be envious of.
This was epitomised by his superb assist to set up Emanuele Giaccherini in the Italians’ opener against Belgium. One thing that many Premier League teams are looking for are players that can play out from the back while maintaining defensive stability, and Bonucci is definitely the man to bring this to Manchester City.
Bonucci, alongside Vincent Kompany could prove to be one of the best defensive partnerships the Premier League has seen in a long time, and would give City a massive boost as they look to win their third Premier League title, under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.
Composure
A vital quality in a Premier League centre-half is the composure to make the correct decision and stay calm under the immense pressure that comes with it, and few are more suited to such an environment than Bonucci.
He himself is only to aware of this, as seen when he stepped up to take the all-important penalty against Germany in the quarter-final of Euro 2016, just one more reason he is the perfect man to settle the City defence down, and help to patch the frailties that have been all too apparent over the past couple of Premier League seasons.
Under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola we could see Bonucci deployed in his favoured role of ball-playing defender, as the Spaniard look to bring the style of football we saw at Barcelona under him to Manchester.
