da wazamba: Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo will look back at this summer’s transfer window and will be pleased with the business done by the club.
da spicy bet: Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho, in particular, were two very good captures and supporters will be eager to see them put on a Wolves shirt for the first time.
As well as Patricio and Moutinho, the 2017/18 Championship winners were also able to bring in Leander Dendoncker, who could prove to be a shrewd acquisition.
The Breakdown
Wolves earlier confirmed the signing of the Belgian from Anderlecht on a season-long loan, which will become a permanent move the following summer.
Dendoncker, who is valued at £15.3m by Transfermarkt, is a defensive midfielder who will bring much to Nuno’s side.
The 23-year-old will offer height and strength to the midfield and his aerial superiority and strong marking ability can provide Wolves with a massive boost when defending set pieces.
It is not just Dendoncker’s stature and physicality, though, that makes him a good signing for Wolves.
The Belgium international is also capable of passing accurately both short and long, which is ideal for a team such as Wolves, who were so dominant with the ball last season in the Championship and want to play on the front foot.
At 23 and in a new league as demanding and rigorous as the Premier League, it may take some time for Dendoncker to adapt. But in the former Anderlecht man, Wolves have a very promising midfielder in their ranks.
