da supremo: It was another pulsating weekend of Premier League action with all ten teams looking to get their festive fixtures off to good start.
da 888casino: The game of the weekend saw Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United travel to Liverpool in a bid to inflict their first defeat of the season.
Unfortunately for Mourinho who was sacked just days later, Jurgen Klopp’s men put in a decent enough second half performance to help them win 3-1.
City, Spurs and Chelsea all won, but Arsenal’s trip to Southampton ended in disappointment, thanks to Charlie Austin’s late goal and cheeky celebration.
You know the results, here’s what you missed in Gameweek 17.
Deeney’s Challenge
On a wet and windy day of Premier League action, many felt that Troy Deeney’s sliding tackle on Cardiff’s Nathan Etheridge was ill-judged.
Neil Warnock was demanding at least a card for the Watford striker, who received nothing more than a telling off from the referee.
Lascelles’ Tackle
Talking of bad tackles, Newcastle captain Jamal Lascelles could count himself lucky he stayed on the pitch after this unecessary challenge on Laurent Depoitre.
The centre-back ‘chopped’ down the forward with the ball already out of play when he made the challenge.
Palace Won Without Wilf
For the first time since March 2016, Crystal Palace, thanks to a brilliant goal from Luka Milivojevic won their first game without talisman Wilfried Zaha.
The Ivory Coast international is currently on the sidelines with an injury and Roy Hodgson was delighted to finally shake-off the hoodoo:
“It is nice to put that one to bed, but it has got people talking and writing more than it has got us thinking. We have known it was there, but it will be a different press conference next week.”
Leicester In A Slump
Delight for Crystal Palace, meant despair for Leicester City supporters, who saw their Foxes side suffer back-to-back defeats.
That means Claude Puel’s side have won just one of their last six games, their only win was against Watford at the start of the month.
Huddersfield Front Line
Huddersfield’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle not only made it four games without a win, but it became another game in which a forward player has scored for the Terriers.
None of Huddersfield’s ten goals this season have been scored by a striker.
Poch And Pep’s Hats
Looking for a last minute Christmas present? Mauricio Pochettino and Pep Guardiola were doing their very best to tempt you into buying the new Nike beanie hats.
Unfortunately you can’t buy them in either club shop!
Dier’s Surgery
Eric Dier hasn’t played for Tottenham since the North London derby earlier this month and for good reason.
It was announced on Sunday morning that the England midfielder has had surgery to remove his appendix and will now be out until January.
If you’re going to have to have appendicitis, have it during a busy Christmas period!
Spurs Tour
Spurs fans were finally given the opportunity to see inside their new stadium on Sunday, with a fan familiarisation event.
Fans flocked to social media to show off their images of the stadium, but still they await news of when they can actually see their team in action there.
