da bet sport: A long-winded transfer saga came to a close on Monday as any hopes of Leeds signing Ryan Kent in the future were quashed.
The former Liverpool man joined Rangers for £7m at the start of the week putting to bed his saga with the Whites.
Yorkshire Evening Post say he was a long term target, revealing that the winger was initially the focus of their attention before switching it to Eddie Nketiah.
Leeds Live also claimed that he was the outstanding option for the club back in July.
Now he’s moved elsewhere, it’s a switch that’s caused debate among the Elland Road faithful as they seemed divided on the situation on Twitter.
One said that opting for Nketiah was the right thing to do, although they now needed to play him. Another suggested that with Helder Costa unable to get into the side, Kent might’ve suffered from the same problem.
However, one fan labelled it a missed opportunity as a further individual noted he could have been the man to replace Pablo Hernandez down the line.
Leeds made a late dart to sign Nketiah on deadline day and so far their decision has been vindicated with the 20-year-old scoring three goals already.
Here’s the best of the debate.
