da fazobetai: Patrick Bamford is an absolute enigma at Leeds United.
da bet7: One week he looks like one of the best strikers in the league, scoring twice, while the next he looks like he doesn’t deserve to even have a professional contract, missing guilt-edge chances.
Fans have switched between praising the forward and slamming him on almost a weekly basis this season, and while a new striker has been signed you can understand why the manager would be hesitant to drop Bamford in favour of Jean-Kevin Augustin.

First and foremost, Bamford is actually in much better goalscoring form than the Frenchman.
Augustin scored just once in 2019, while the Leeds forward netted 19 last year. Despite the fact he’s missed an unbelievable number of opportunities this term, he’s always getting into the right positions.
Indeed, the striker has a higher xG than any other player in the division, and while he hasn’t matched that tally with actual goals, he’s still been in the right places to have an xG tally that high.
In comparison, Augustin has an xG of just over 13 throughout his career in Ligue 1 and Bundesliga, with a combined appearance tally of 75.
Augustin quite clearly hasn’t been in the same positions as Bamford, and while he is overperforming his xG it’s nowhere near as high as the Leeds man’s this term, despite it taking into account 45 more fixtures.
Leeds do need someone who can finish chances, but they also need someone who will get into the right positions. Bamford has proven that he can do that, whereas Augustin seemingly isn’t so hot on that front.
The fact of the matter is that you’d rather have a striker who gets loads of chances and finishes a lower percentage, rather than one who has very few shots and converts a higher proportion.
A higher percentage of these opportunities may be squandered by Bamford, but he will undoubtedly be in the right positions, something that can’t necessarily be said of Augustin.
In other news, Leeds could fix two problems with one simple switch.
