da apostebet: Leeds United have been urged to sign a new striker this summer, and he could be an ideal upgrade to the wasteful Patrick Bamford at Elland Road.
What’s been said?
da roleta: The west Yorkshire outfit are leading the Championship title race with nine games to go, but there is currently uncertainty over whether or not the season will actually finish with action suspended until next month.
Should everything go to plan, then there is arguably a great chance that United are back in the English top-flight for the first time in 16 years with them holding a seven-point cushion to the playoff positions.
If the Whites are indeed a Premier League club next term, former defender Danny Mills has suggested Norwich City talisman Teemu Pukki as a potential target.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said:
“Pukki would be the obvious choice.
“It is where does he go and what sort of fee would he command. Does he want to leave Norwich? He is the obvious one.
“He is a goalscorer and he has proven he can do it. A good position and the way that Leeds play.
“But Bielsa is a funny one and a canny one at times. He could bring in somebody completely left-field. He may well use his contacts in South-America or Spain to bring in somebody.
“I think it would be obvious that they would have to bring somebody of quality in the centre-forward position if they get promoted.”

Bamford upgrade
It’s an interesting suggestion to make as there is a real possibility that both Leeds and Norwich will have swapped positions come the start of next season.
Pukki has proven he can compete in the top-flight by scoring 11 goals in a struggling Canaries side that sit rock bottom in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen if Marcelo Bielsa will be in the market for a new man to lead the line, but if there’s any chance he can clinch the 29-year-old, then he shouldn’t think twice as he’d be a decent upgrade to Patrick Bamford.

Leeds are one of the worst teams for chance conversion, scoring just 13.6% of their shots on target this season, and most of the blame can be attributed to the 26-year-old as he has started all but one game in the league.
He has returned 13 goals, but that wasteful statistic above hints that it could be ever so much better.
This is emphasised more when reading that Bamford averages 3.4 shots per game while Pukki is merely two goals behind after averaging only 2.6 shots per match – he scores with fewer attempts at goal.

In addition to this, the Finnish striker records more key passes (1) and dribbles (0.8) whilst also being offside less (0.5) and recording fewer unsuccessful touches (1.9) than the Leeds regular, per WhoScored.
He’d be a superb addition at Elland Road should circumstances allow such a move to happen – Pukki definitely knows where to find the net at the west Yorkshire ground, too.
And in other news, Leeds may have a bittersweet end to the season…
